ABOUT SUN SAFE

Why Sun Safe exists

Research and development

Sun Safe grew out of a problem in the field. A safety device for PV systems is in development (patent pending). Details aren’t public yet.

ABOUT ME

Who is writing this

Solar engineering is more than a job to me. It’s a passion, and I believe it is the way to power the future.

I have been around solar my entire life, from early memories of an off-grid house in Placitas, NM, to starting my career in the R&D lab of a thin-film module manufacturer in Halfmoon, NY, in 2005. Solar has shaped who I am.

Over the past twenty-plus years I’ve worked across the industry: the manufacturing floor, R&D labs, test facilities, system design, site commissioning, and now overseeing 30+ sites on the East Coast. I’ve commissioned more than 100 MW of solar, on multiple continents and all across the US, and seeing PV from so many angles has given me a perspective I cherish.

Watching solar take off these past few years has been nothing short of a marvel. A green energy transition this fast was a dream not long ago, and now it’s coming true. I’m honored to be part of it and can’t wait to see where it goes next. This site is my attempt to give something back.

IN THE FIELD

Twenty-plus years of solar

I’ve been fortunate to see solar from many vantage points: a thin-film factory floor in New York, rooftops in Colorado, desert trackers in California, skyscrapers in Switzerland, snow-buried arrays in Japan and north-facing modules in Australia. It has taken me far and wide and enriched my life. I’d like to share that wealth with others!
